Unique, hand-crafted birds and fish

Are you independent and fun-loving? Do you enjoy surroundings that have an element of surprise? Do you let your spirits soar? Then take a look at this unique collection of whimsical art pieces.

The birds and fish are completely hand crafted by two sisters. They begin with simple paper-mache forms molded at the hand of Sue Lazerwitz in Columbus, Ohio, then shipped to Terry Ray in North Texas who applies a composite material which is then sanded smooth and sealed. Both sisters do the painting. The pieces are fun, fanciful and totally unrealistic. No two are alike.

Each bird's legs stretch long and out of proportion to its body. This quality allows the bird to sway slightly high above its heavy base. The fish are mounted lower, some swimming among the reefs others resting on the rocky bottom.

Bases are repurposed objects ranging from industrial mold forms to driftwood and are carefully matched to each sculpture to enhance their unique personality. The sculptures range in height from about 12 inches to as tall as 30 inches.
